【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=옥천군의회(의장 추복성)는 지난 7일 청산면 만월리의 고추 재배 농가를 찾아 농촌 일손 돕기 봉사활동을 펼쳤다.

 이번 봉사에는 군의원 및 의회사무과 직원 등 20여 명이 참여해, 본격적인 영농철을 맞아 일손 부족으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 농가를 위해 고추대 세우기 등의 작업을 도우며 구슬땀을 흘렸다. 

 현장을 찾은 농가주는 “영농철에 일손이 부족해 근심이 컸는데, 의회에서 이렇게 직접 도와주니 정말 큰 힘이 됐다.”며 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

 추복성 의장은 “고령화와 이상기후 등으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 농촌의 현실을 피부로 느낄 수 있었다”며 “농가의 부담을 조금이나마 덜어드릴 수 있어 보람을 느낀다. 앞으로도 의회 차원의 다양한 농촌 지원 방안을 적극 검토해 나가겠다.”라고 말했다.

 옥천군의회는 매년 농촌 일손 돕기 활동을 통해 지역사회와의 상생을 실천하고 있으며, 앞으로도 지속적인 농촌 지원에 나설 계획이다.

About 20 county council members and council office staff participated in this volunteer activity, helping farmers who are struggling due to a lack of workers during the peak farming season by setting up pepper stands and working hard.

A farmer who visited the site expressed his gratitude, saying, “I was worried about the lack of workers during the farming season, but the council’s direct help was a great help.”
