【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시는 7일 오전 9시, 충주 시민의 숲에서 제64회 충북도민체육대회의 성화 채화식을 개최하며 본격적인 체전의 시작을 알렸다.

이번 성화 채화는 기존의 ‘칠선녀’ 의식 대신, 지역 어린이들이 ‘숲의 요정’으로 분장해 성화를 밝히는 이색적이고 창의적인 연출로 눈길을 끌었다. 

‘자연과 함께하는 문화체전’을 주제로 열린 이날 행사에는 어린이 10명이 숲속을 무대로 특별 공연을 펼치며 평화와 화합의 불꽃을 밝히는 퍼포먼스를 선보였다.

채화식에는 조길형 충주시장을 비롯해 김낙우 충주시의회 의장, 이정훈 충주교육지원청 교육장, 충북체육회 김관훈 부회장, 진용섭 충주시체육회장 등 주요 내빈과 성화주자, 공연단, 관계자들이 참석했다.

내빈들은 성화봉을 차례로 전달하며 도민 화합의 의미를 되새겼다.

채화된 성화는 어린이 공연과 성화봉 전달식을 거쳐 시민의 숲 추진위원장 임청 성화주자에게 인계됐으며, 이후 읍면 봉송을 이어간 뒤 시청 현관에 안치된다. 

이어 8일 개회식 당일에는 출정식을 시작으로 시내 봉송이 진행되며, 충주종합운동장에서 시민합창단의 공연과 함께 점화식이 진행될 예정이다.

진용섭 충주시체육회장은 “충주만의 특색을 살린 성화 채화식으로 충주시의 정체성을 보여주고자 했다”라며 “이번 체전을 통해 시민이 함께 땀 흘리며 경쟁하면서 서로 격려하고 화합하는 장이 되길 바란다”라고 말했다.

조길형 충주시장은 “성화가 지나가는 길마다 충주의 희망과 활력이 퍼지길 바란다”며, “이번 체전이 시민 모두 하나 되어 스포츠의 감동을 나누는 자리가 되기를 기대한다”라고 말했다. 이어 “시민이 주인공인 체전을 위해 끝까지 최선을 다하겠다”라고 덧붙였다.

한편 성화가 채화된 ‘시민의 숲’은 충주시민과 기관·단체가 자발적으로 나무를 기부하고 조성에 참여한 시민참여형 녹색 공간으로, 충주의 대표적 생태문화 명소로 자리매김할 예정이다.
