탄암공 곽시선생모현회(회장 이규완)와 선산곽씨종친회(회장 곽동천)는 지난달 29일 탄암공 곽시선생 춘향제를 옥천읍 삼청리 탄암공 곽시선생 유허비 일원에서 종중 회원 및 지역 유림 등 50여 명이 참석한 가운데 개최했다.

곽시선생은 조선중기 문신으로 학덕이 뛰어나 당대의 명사들로부터 높은 평가를 받아 지역 유림들이 선생을 숭상하는 제를 매년 음력 3월 초정일에 열고 있다.

초헌관에는 오한문 옥천향교 전교, 아헌관에는 이규완 탄암공 곽시선생모현회 회장, 종헌관에는 조규룡 옥천군의회 부의장이 맡아 제향 행사를 진행했다.

또한, 이달 8일에는 목담서원 춘향제가 동이면 금암리 목담서원(원장 박진하)에서 옥천전씨판서공파종친회(회장 전재영) 회원 및 지역 유림 등 70여 명이 참석한 가운데 열렸다.

초헌관에는 황규철 옥천군수, 아헌관에는 박진하 목담서원 원장, 종헌관에는 전재용 옥천전씨판서공파종친회 회장이 맡았다.

목담서원은 1765년 유림과 후손들이 송정 전팽령의 영정을 봉안하면서 운영되다 흥선대원군의 서원철폐령으로 헐린 것을 1936년 복원하면서 전팽령, 전식, 전유 선생을 봉안하고 있다.

후율당(충북도 기념물 제13호)은 의병장 조헌선생이 1588년 용촌리에 지은 서실로 고종 1년인 1864년 안내면 도이리로 옮겨왔으며 1977년대 공사를 거치고 난 뒤 본당과 선생의 아들 완기의 효자정문을 갖추고 있다.
