 전국의 학교에서 훈련 중인 청소년 국가대표 후보 선수들을 대상으로 실시하는 이번 스토브리그는 탁구 종목의 국가 경쟁력을 높이고, 체계적인 훈련을 통해 개인별 취약점을 분석·보완하여 선수들이 성공적으로 한 해를 출발할 수 있도록 하기위해 개최됐다.

 김창규 제천시장은 “지난 1월에 성황리에 치러진 국가대표 탁구 선발전을 시작으로, 2025 국제오픈 유소년 탁구대회, 전국어머니탁구대회 및 전국어린이탁구대회, 탁구 종합선수권 대회 등 다양한 탁구대회를 개최할 예정”이라며 “스포츠 도시 제천에서 다양한 탁구대회를 개최하는 만큼 전국의 탁구인들에게 제천에 많은 관심과 방문을 부탁드린다”고 전했다.
