김 협의회장은 “설 명절을 맞아 북녘에 가족을 둔 북한이탈주민들이 잠시나마 외로움을 잊고 고향을 떠올리며 이웃들과 함께 따뜻한 시간을 보내길 바라는 마음으로 이번 행사를 마련했다”며“옥천군에 정착한 북한이탈주민들이 안정적으로 생활할 수 있도록 지속적인 관심과 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 전했다.

이날 행사에 참석한 한 북한이탈주민은“명절이 되면 더욱 생각나는 고향과 가족에 대한 그리움을 이번 행사를 통해 조금이나마 달랠 수 있었다”며“동포들과의 따뜻한 만남이 큰 위로가 되었다”고 고마움을 전했다.

민주평화통일자문회의 옥천군 협의회는 앞으로도 북한이탈주민과 지역 사회의 소통을 연계하는 중심체로서의 역할을 할 것이며 평화 통일을 위해 국민적 공감대 형성과 더불어 지역 사회의 화합을 도모하는 데 최선을 다할 계획이다.
