【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=옥천군은 지역의 전통 기술자 및 숙련 기술자 중 우수한 인물을 ‘옥천군 장인’으로 선정하기 위해 후보자 접수를 2월 28일까지 진행한다고 10일 밝혔다.

‘옥천군 장인’ 선정은 지역의 전통적이고 숙련된 기술을 보유한 인물을 선정해 기술인의 긍지와 자부심을 고취하고 전통문화 계승과 산업 발전에 이바지하기 위해 시행됐다. 

선정된 장인에게는 장인 증서와 현판이 수여되며, 기술 장려금으로 매월 20만 원씩 2년 동안 지급된다.

지원대상 선정은 15년 이상 동일 직종에 종사한 옥천군 거주 기술자 중에서 전통기술과 숙련기술을 보유하고, 사회에 기여한 인물이다.

작년엔 총 2명의 장인이 발굴되었고 올해는 전통기술 분야(건축, 음악, 무용, 공예, 놀이 등 7개 직종)와 숙련기술 분야(생산‧제조 및 서비스 분야 등 92개 직종) 총 99개 직종을 대상으로 진행된다. 

후보자는 서류심사와 현장평가 후 장인 선정위원회에서 신청자의 역량과 사회적 기여도 등을 종합적으로 평가하여 최종 대상자를 선정할 예정이다.

군 관계자는 “옥천군 장인 선정은 지역의 전통기술과 숙련기술을 보호하고 발전시키기 위한 중요한 의미를 지닌 행사이다. 지역의 많은 기술자들이 이번 기회를 통해 우수성을 인정받고 기술을 계승할 수 있도록 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
