【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북경찰청(청장 김학관)은, 도내 교통사고를 예방하기 위해 교통사고 다발구간에 무인교통단속카메라 19대를 신규 설치 완료했다고 밝혔다. 

경찰은 올해 충북자치경찰위원회 예산을 받아 충북 도내에 설치 한 총 19대(과속 6대, 전면 다기능 6대, 후면 단속 7대)를 내년 1월부터 3개월간 시범 운용 후 4. 1일부터 정상 운영할 예정이다.  

충북 도내에는 24년 12월 기준 현재 총 1,066대에 무인교통단속카메라를 운영 중에 있으며, 23년과 24년 동기간 대비(1.1∼12.17일 기준) 교통사고 발생, 교통 사망사고 건수를 현황을 분석한 결과 사고 건수(7,711→7,642, 69건 감소, 0.9% 감소),교통사망자 수(154명→142명, 12명 감소, 7.8% 감소) 모두 감소하여 카메라 설치로 인해 교통사고와 인명피해 예방에 큰 효과가 있는 것으로 조사됐다.

이번에 신규 설치되는 장소로는 충북 청주시 서청주교사거리, 음성군 오산사거리, 보은군 동학농민공원 앞, 괴산군 유평터널 앞 등이며, 특히 도내 이륜차 교통사고와 난폭운전 등 법규위반이 빈번한 장소인 청주시 충대정문오거리, 용암지하차도사거리, 충주시 칠금우체국사거리, 제천시 다릿재터널, 옥천군 군북면 이백리 168-1, 진천군 엽돈재, 증평군 군청사거리 총 7개 장소를 선정해 후면 번호판을 촬영하는 후면 무인교통단속카메라 설치하여 이륜차 교통사고 예방에 큰 도움이 될 것이라고 기대했다.
