【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=옥천군 생활자원회수센터(군 환경과 자원순환팀 직영)가 기후에너지환경부 주최, ‘2025년 폐기물처리사업 및 폐기물처리시설 설치·운영실태 평가’에서 생활자원 부문 우수시설로 선정돼 포상금 1백만 원을 받았다.

이번 평가는 전국 공공폐기물 처리시설을 대상으로 환경성, 기술성, 경제성, 안정성, 운영관리 등을 종합적으로 심사했으며, 옥천군은 생활자원 부문에서 재활용품 선별·처리 효율, 에너지 사용 관리, 협잡물 적정처리, 현장 안전·관리 체계 등 대부분의 평가 항목에서 높은 점수를 받았다.

옥천군 생활자원회수센터는 생활폐기물 중 재활용 가능 자원을 분리·선별해 자원순환을 촉진하는 핵심 인프라로 센터 운영의 효율성 개선, 선별 품질 향상, 재활용품 반출 체계 고도화, 시설 안전관리 강화 등을 지속 추진해왔다. 특히, 작업환경 개선, 재활용품 적정 선별률 향상, 현장 운영 데이터 관리 강화 등이 이번 평가에서 긍정적으로 반영된 것으로 나타났다.

황규철 옥천군수는 “이번 우수시설 선정은 생활폐기물 자원화 체계를 지속적으로 개선해 온 결과”라며“향후에도 주민 생활환경 개선과 자원순환 활성화를 위해 시설 현대화 및 운영 역량 강화에 집중하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 옥천군은 2021년 생활자원회수센터와 소각시설이 동시에 최우수시설로 선정된 데 이어, 2024년 소각시설 우수시설로 선정되는 성과를 거두었으며 이번 수상으로 친환경 폐기물 관리 선도 지자체로서의 위상을 다시 한번 확인했다.
