이번 캠페인에는 제천시를 비롯해 전통시장 상인회, 의용소방대, 자율방재단 등 50여 명이 참여해 상인과 시민을 대상으로 겨울철 화재예방 수칙을 집중 홍보했다. 또한 최근 피해 사례가 증가하고 있는 불법 방문판매(일명 ‘떴다방’) 예방을 위한 홍보 활동도 병행했다.

특히 이번 캠페인은 단순 홍보를 넘어 소방서·보건소 등과 협업해 시설·소방·위생 분야의 합동 점검을 실시함으로써 전통시장의 잠재적 위험요인을 사전에 점검하고 개선하는 실질적 예방 활동으로 진행됐다.

제천시는 이번 캠페인을 계기로 겨울철 화재 위험성을 상인과 시민에게 다시 환기하고, 전통시장의 안전한 이용 환경 조성을 위해 예방 활동을 지속적으로 강화할 계획이다.

김창규 제천시장은 “동절기에는 작은 부주의도 큰 화재로 이어질 수 있는 만큼, 유동 인구가 많은 전통시장의 예방 활동이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “관계기관과의 합동점검을 통해 안전 취약 요인을 꼼꼼히 살펴 시민들이 안심하고 시장을 이용할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
