【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북도는 10일 충북RISE센터 대회의실에서 ‘K-유학생 2만명’ 유치를 위한 유관기관 간담회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

 이번 간담회는 충북도가 추진 중인 외국인 유학생 유치정책의 성과를 점검하고, 향후 2만명 목표 달성을 위해 도, 대학, 유관기관 간 긴밀한 협력체계를 강화하기 위한 취지로 마련됐다.

 이날 회의에는 김영환 충북도지사를 비롯해 외국인정책추진단, 충북RISE센터, 충북인재평생교육진흥원, 도내 대학 RISE추진단 및 국제교류센터 관계자 등이 참석했다.

 참석자들은 충북도의 K-유학생 1만명 유치 성과를 공유하고, 각 기관이 추진 중인 유학생 관련 사업과 향후 계획을 논의하며, 기관 간 역할 분담 및 협력 방안에 대해 폭넓은 의견을 나눴다.

 교육부 통계 기준(’25.4.1.) 충북은 2024년 5,053명에서 2025년 10,537명으로 두 배 가까이 늘며 외국인 유학생 증가율 92.1%로 전국 1위를 기록했다. 경북(41.7%), 강원(39.5%) 등 타 시도를 크게 앞질렀다. 

 이 같은 성과는 지자체와 대학의 적극적인 해외 유치활동과 체계적 입학 지원, 정주 프로그램 등 다양한 유치활동을 지속적으로 추진한 결과로 평가된다.

 이번 간담회에서는 유학생 유치 확대와 재학생 정착 유도를 동시에 추진하는 ‘투트랙 전략’을 중심으로 논의가 이루어졌다.

 충북도는 정책 방향을 수립하고, 유관기관과 각 대학들은 RISE 과제와 연계해 대학 단독 또는 연합을 이뤄 참여하는 등 ‘도→기관→대학’으로 이어지는 일관된 협력체계 구축을 통하여 효율적인 추진 기반을 마련하기로 의견을 모았다.
