단수 후에도 납부하지 않으면 차량과 부동산 압류 등 강력한 조치를 이어갈 방침이다.

또한 건물주 등 소유자에 대한 납부 독려도 함께 진행된다.

다만, 경제적 어려움으로 인해 납부가 어려운 기초생활수급자에게는 조례에 따라 6개월 유예 등 조치를 해나갈 예정이다.

올해 상반기 충주시 상수도사업소는 징수 독려반 6명을 운영해 고액 및 상습 체납자 136건에 대해 단수 조치를 시행했으며, 이와 병행한 납부 독려를 통해 총 13억원의 체납액을 징수하는 성과를 거뒀다.
