 도의 가축피해는 7월 9일 기준 닭, 돼지 등 총 1만3천여마리가 폐사한 것으로 집계됐다. 피해규모는 닭이 약 1만 마리로 가장 크고, 오리 3천여 마리, 돼지 115마리 순이다. 전국적으로는 약 13만 7천여 마리의 가축 폐사가 접수된 상태이다. 

 충청북도는 올해 6월부터 폭염 대응 종합대책을 가동해 ▲축산농가 대상 폭염 행동요령 홍보 ▲가축 재해보험 지원 ▲가금류 기후변화 대응시설 ▲축사 지붕 열차단재 도포 ▲축사 전기 안전시설 개보수 지원 ▲고온 스트레스 완화제 지원 등 다각적인 노력을 기울이고 있다. 

  김영환 도지사는 “가축 폭염 피해는 생계와 직결되는 문제인 만큼, 피해 예방을 위한 사전 준비와 신속한 대응이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “폭염이 당분간 지속될 것으로 예상되므로 축산 종사자 및 관계공무원 모두가 합심해 피해 예방에 만전을 기해 줄 것”을 당부했다.

As of July 9, the province's livestock damage was tallied at a total of 13,000 chickens and pigs that died. The scale of damage was the largest for chickens, at about 10,000, followed by 3,000 ducks and 115 pigs. Nationwide, approximately 137,000 livestock deaths have been reported.
