【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북 영동군은 베트남 박리에우성에서 선발된 공공형 외국인 계절근로자 30명이 지난 8일 인천국제공항을 통해 입국했다고 밝혔다.

 이번 입국은 2023년 8월 영동군과 베트남 박리에우성 간 체결한 계절근로자 도입 업무협약(MOU)의 결과로, 영동군은 지난해에 이어 2년 연속 농림축산식품부의 공공형 외국인 계절근로자 공모사업에 선정됐다.

 입국한 계절근로자 30명(남 10명, 여 20명)은 황간농협을 운영주체로 하여 오는 9일부터 10월 8일까지 약 5개월간 영농현장에 투입된다. 황간농협은 단기 인력이 필요한 농가를 대상으로 이용료를 받고 근로자를 배치·관리하는 방식으로 사업을 추진한다.

 황간농협은 이날 농협 대회의실에서 계절근로자들을 대상으로 환영식과 함께 △근로조건 △임금체계 △인권침해 예방 △마약 예방 등에 관한 교육을 추진했다.

 정영철 영동군수는 환영식에 참석해 △수건 △장갑 △상처연고 △마스크 등 작업 및 방역 물품을 전달하며 “올해는 근로 기간이 지난해 3개월에서 5개월로 늘어난 만큼, 건강하고 성실히 근무해 달라”고 당부했다.

 박동헌 황간농협 조합장은 “이번 사업은 일손이 부족한 단기·영세농가에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다”며 “근로자와 농가 모두 만족할 수 있도록 철저한 관리와 지원에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.

 한편 올해 영동군의 외국인 계절근로자 도입 규모는 총 515명으로 △농가 고용형 227명 △공공형 30명 △다문화가정 초청형 258명으로 구성된다. 이 중 현재까지 344명이 입국하여 164개 농가에 배치돼 영농활동을 돕고 있다. 또한 필요 영농시기에 맞춰 지속 입국할 예정이다.

 군 관계자는 “올해는 공공형 근로자의 근무기간을 연장하고 공동숙소 리모델링, 건강보험 가입 등 복지 여건을 개선해 근로의욕을 높였다”며 “특히 농번기인 상반기 중 인력을 집중 투입해 일손 부족 문제를 적극 해소해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
