이번 사업은 저출생 및 인구위기 극복을 위한 민·관 협력 프로젝트로 도내 다자녀 가구 중 열악한 주거환경에 처한 가정에 최대 5천만 원 규모의 주택 리모델링을 지원하는 프로그램이다. 옥천군에서는 동이면에 거주하는 5자녀 가정이 이번 사업의 첫 수혜가구로 선정됐다.

수혜가구는 지역 내 사회보장협의체 및 이장 추천 등을 통해 주거환경 개선이 시급한 가구를 1차적으로 발굴하고 현장 조사를 거쳐 최종 선정되었다. 앞으로 노후 주택의 공간 재배치, 구조 효율화, 낙후시설 정비 등 주거환경 전반에 대한 리모델링이 이뤄질 예정이다.

황규철 옥천군수는 “이번 사업을 통해 열악한 주거환경에 놓인 다자녀 가정이 보다 쾌적하고 안전한 공간에서 아이들을 키울 수 있게 되어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “앞으로도 옥천군은 저출생 문제 극복과 인구 활력 회복을 위한 다양한 정책을 발굴하고 다자녀 가정에 실질적인 도움이 되는 행정을 지속해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
