이번 사업은 초등학교 2학년생(동 지역)과 전교생(면 지역)을 대상으로 하며, 학생들에게 올바른 구강 건강관리 습관을 형성하도록 돕기 위해 마련됐다.

학교 구강 관리 서비스는 공중보건치과의사와 치과위생사가 학교를 방문해 △구강 보건교육 △금연 교육 △충치 예방을 위한 불소 광칠 도포 △불소 양치 용액과 건강 놀이책 배부 등을 진행한다.

특히 불소 광칠은 치아 표면을 단단하게 만들어 주고 치아우식증(충치) 예방과 효과적임에 따라 시는 불소도포를 연 2회 실시하여 충치 예방 효과를 더 높일 계획이다.

또한, 학생들이 올바른 구강건강 습관을 기를 수 있도록 구강 위생용품 칫솔과 함께 건강 놀이책을 배부해 구강건강뿐만 아니라 영양, 비만 방지 교육 등 신체 건강에도 흥미를 유도할 방침이다.

보건소 관계자는“이번 사업을 통해 구강건강의 중요성을 알리고 학생들이 스스로 올바른 구강 건강관리를 배우는 계기가 되길 바란다”라며 “학생들의 건강한 구강 관리를 유지할 수 있도록 다양한 방법으로 돕겠다”라고 말했다.
