 시는 14일 김창규 제천시장 주재로 2016년 노선체계 개편 이후 변화된 지역 교통환경을 반영한 시내버스 노선체계를 전면 개편하고자 시의회 및 관계자가 참석한 가운데 용역 착수보고회를 열고 의견을 청취했다.

 2026년 1월까지 진행되는 이번 용역은 관내 134개 시내버스 노선을 대상으로 이용실태조사와 문제점을 분석하고 개선안을 도출하여 시민 불편의 최소화, 운송원가의 효율화, 미래수요 예측으로 지속 가능한 교통체계 구축 등을 주요 내용으로 담을 예정이다.

 또한, 도농복합도시인 제천시의 지역적 특성을 고려한 △읍면 지·간선제 도입 △중복노선 및 지역불균형 노선 개선 △학생통학 노선 개선 △산단 출퇴근 노선 개선 △관광순환노선 발굴 등 이용객의 편의성 증대와 이용률 제고로 제천시민뿐만 아니라 제천 방문객에게도 편리한 교통서비스를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
