【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=청주시는 상당구 방서동 600-1 일원 방서교~용평교 하부에 1천㎡ 규모의 꽃정원을 새로 조성했다고 15일 밝혔다.

대상지는 인근 주민 등 시민들이 즐겨 찾는 무심천 대표 산책로다. 시는 이곳에 꽃묘장에서 직접 생산한 석죽, 버베나, 크리산세멈 등 일년초 11종 5만본을 식재했다. 

특히 1사1하천 가꾸기 사업 연계해 참여 기업과 시민정원사, 꽃묘생산관리원 100여명이 힘을 합쳐 하트, 동그라미, 네모, 땅콩 모양 등 다양한 문양으로 조성해 의미를 더했다.

이로써 청주시가 운영하는 꽃정원은 총 4개소, 1만5천900㎡로 늘어났다. 무심천 내 꽃정원은 이번에 조성한 방서교~용평교 하부와 운천동 흥덕대교 하부(6천900㎡), 사직동 롤러스케이트 튤립정원(2천㎡) 등 3개소이며, 문암생태공원 튤립정원(6천㎡)도 만발해 관람객을 반기고 있다.

시 관계자는 “새로 조성한 방서동 무심천 꽃정원에 많은 시민들께서 찾아오셔서 알록달록한 봄꽃 향연을 즐기시기 바란다”고 말했다. 

한편 시는 월오동, 문의면 2개소에서 꽃묘장을 운영하고 있다. 지난해 시설 개선을 통해 기존 85만본에서 120만본으로 생산량을 대폭 확대했다.
