【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북대학교(총장 고창섭)가 과학기술정보통신부가 주관하는 ‘전략기술 지역혁신엔진 사업’에 선정됐다. 전략기술 지역혁신엔진 사업은 지역이 주도하여 연구개발특구가 보유한 국가전략기술 분야 성과를 동력(엔진)으로 지역 경제ㆍ산업의 재도약 견인하고자 하는 사업이다.

연간 약 50억 내원 내외로 5년 간 최대 300억 원을 지원받아 ‘BIO반도체’ 분야의 기술 개발 및 지역 주도 과학기술 혁신 생태계를 구축한다. 

이번 사업 선정으로 바이오 관련 데이터 구축 및 스마트 IT 부품 분야와 융합한 헬스케어 디바이스, 휴대용 진단 시스템을 개발해 지역산업의 경쟁력을 높이고 지역 주도 과학기술혁신생태계 구축을 위한 지산학연간 공동 연구 및 산학연 융합 연구센터 운영으로 지역 산업 성장을 견인하는 것이 목표이다. 

충북도내 위치한 주요 정부출연연구기관 및 (주) 라피끄, (주)세종바이오, ㈜세종메디아 등 다양한 지역 민간기업과의 공동연구개발을 통해 기술사업화 기반을 갖추고 신규 전략 기업 유치 및 창업을 지원함으로서 지역 바이오 산업의 성장 엔진으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

총괄 사업책임자인 안지영 교수는 ‘전략기술 지역혁신엔진 사업’을 통해 충북대가 충청북도-청주시와 함께 추진 운영중인 강소연구개발특구를 중심으로 연구개발에 정진하여 연구성과를 창출함과 더불어, 충북 지역 특화 바이오 산업의 발전을 위하여 최선의 노력을 다할 것”이라고 소감을 밝혔다.

Chungbuk National University (President Ko Chang-seop) was selected for the ‘Strategic Technology Regional Innovation Engine Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The Strategic Technology Regional Innovation Engine Project is a project that aims to lead the regional economy and industry to take a leap forward with the national strategic technology achievements of the R&D special zone as the driving force (engine).

With approximately KRW 5 billion per year and up to KRW 30 billion over 5 years, it will develop technology in the ‘BIO semiconductor’ field and establish a regional-led science and technology innovation ecosystem.

With this project selection, the goal is to increase the competitiveness of regional industries by building bio-related data and developing healthcare devices and portable diagnostic systems that are integrated with the smart IT component field, and to drive regional industrial growth through joint research between industry, academia, and research institutes and the operation of an industry-academia convergence research center for establishing a regional-led science and technology innovation ecosystem.

By establishing a foundation for technology commercialization through joint research and development with major government-funded research institutes located in Chungcheongbuk-do and various local private companies such as Lapiq Co., Ltd., Sejong Bio Co., Ltd., and Sejong Media Co., Ltd., and supporting the attraction and start-up of new strategic companies, it is expected to become a growth engine for the local bio industry. Professor Ji-young Ahn, the general project manager, said, “Through the ‘Strategic Technology Regional Innovation Engine Project,’ Chungbuk National University will focus on research and development centered on the Gangso Research and Development Special Zone that is being promoted and operated together with Chungcheongbuk-do and Cheongju City, and create research results. In addition, we will do our best to develop the specialized bio industry in the Chungcheongbuk-do region.”
