Danyang-gun, Various Events Reduced and Postponed Due to Early Presidential Election
Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do announced on the 11th that various events that may violate the election law will be reduced or postponed until after the presidential election, as the 21st presidential election date has been confirmed as June 3.
The county had planned various events and festivals starting with the ‘2025 Danyang Visit Year’ declaration ceremony this year, but due to the Public Official Election Act prohibiting local government heads from any actions that may influence the election starting 60 days before the election date, the event schedule was inevitably adjusted.
Accordingly, many of the major events scheduled for the first half of the year will be postponed to the second half of the year after the presidential election.
However, legal events that do not violate the election law or must be held at a specific time, as well as routine and regular business, will proceed as scheduled in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. In particular, the '41st Danyang Sobaeksan Rhododendron Festival' scheduled to be held for four days from May 22 to 25 will be held as originally planned regardless of the election schedule.
The county plans to closely review compliance with the Public Official Election Act and to further improve the program composition and operation.
A county official said, "We ask for the understanding of the county residents regarding the change or cancellation of some event schedules due to the presidential election schedule," and "We ask for your active cooperation to create a fair election atmosphere and minimize inconvenience to residents."
