【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=옥천군이 대한민국 대표 문학축제 지용제를 오는 5월 15일부터 18일까지 4일간 상계체육시설 및 지용문학공원 등 구읍 지역 일원에서 개최한다.

올해로 38회째를 맞는 이번 지용제는‘詩끌북적 문학축제’라는 슬로건 아래 옥천군과 옥천문화원이 공동 주최하고, 옥천청년회의소, 옥천청년연합, 옥주문화동호회, 지용회, 정지용기념사업회, 각 문화예술단체가 주관한다.

축제를 주관하는 옥천문화원(원장 김대훈)은 ‘향수’로 대표되는 옥천의 이미지 강화를 위해 정지용문학상 역대 수상자를 초청하여 지역 청소년과의 문학 교류 행사를 열며 지용학당, 게릴라 시낭송 버스킹, 정지용 코스프레 퍼레이드, 향수 마차‧인력거 운영 등 다양한 프로그램을 준비하고 있다.

축제 기간은 기존 3일에서 4일로 확대됐으며 상계체육시설과 지용문학공원 일원을 중심으로 축제장을 조성하여 방문객 동선을 최적화 하는 등 협소하고 복잡했던 골목 축제의 한계를 보완하고 보다 쾌적한 환경을 조성했다. 

주무대가 있는 상계체육시설에서는 37회 정지용 문학상 시상식을 비롯해 31회 지용신인문학상 시상식 등 대표 문학 행사가 진행된다. 또한, 제22회 군민 한마음 노래자랑, 모더니즘 패션쇼, 충북도립교향악단 공연 등 다양한 볼거리도 제공될 예정이다.

이외에도 가족 단위 방문객을 위해 다양한 놀이와 체험을 즐길 수 있는 어린이테마파크와 놀이공원를 운영하고 실개천 희망 종이배 띄우기, 사행시 과거시험, 전문 MC와 함께 게임과 이벤트를 진행하는 페스티벌 라이브카, 추억의 문방구 등 방문객들이 각 공간별로 구성된 다양한 프로그램을 즐길 수 있도록 했다.

김대훈 옥천문화원장은 “지난해 아쉬웠던 경험을 기회의 발판으로 삼아 38회 지용제의 성공적인 개최에 주관 단체들과 온 역량을 결집하겠다”며“향수의 고장이자 대한민국의 영원한 고향인 옥천에서 펼쳐지는 이번 축제에 많은 분들이 오셔서 문학과 감성이 어우러진 시간을 만끽 하시길 바란다”고 덧붙였다.

한편, 지난해 개최된 37회 지용제는 6만여 명이 방문해 17억 원의 경제적 파급효과가 나타났으며 2025년 충북도 우수 축제로 지정돼 1,500만 원의 인센티브를 확보했다.
