이번 수상은 지역 맞춤형 교육 정책을 적극 추진하고, 교육청 또는 대학 등 교육 주체들과 협력해 지역교육 혁신과 인재 양성에 기여한 성과다. 

시는 2023년 2월 교육발전특구 1차 시범지역으로 선정된 이후 지속 가능한 미래교육 협력도시 조성을 목표로 지역 주도 교육개혁을 추진해 왔다. 

특히, △미래교육도시 충주 선포식 개최 △교육주체 300인 토론회 운영 △지역 대학 인적·물적 자원을 활용한 유·초·중·고 교육혁신 플랫폼 구축 등의 성과를 통해 공교육 경쟁력 강화에 힘썼다.

또한, △학교복합시설 조성 △학생 주도형 글로벌 프로젝트 운영 △승강기 산업 맞춤형 교육과정 도입 등 지역 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 인재 양성 프로그램을 운영하며 교육과 산업을 연계한 실질적인 지원을 강화했다. 

이러한 노력이 충주지역 학생들에게는 질 높은 교육 기회를 제공하고, 지역 산업 발전에도 기여하는 선순환 구조를 만들어 냈다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

시는 올해도 진로 체험교육 활성화, 교육혁신지원센터 운영, 늘봄연계 교육 돌봄거점 조성, 문화산업 인재 양성 프로그램 운영 등을 중점적으로 추진할 계획이다. 

또한, 학교와 지역사회의 긴밀한 협력을 기반으로 학생 맞춤형 교육 서비스를 확대하고 창의적 학습환경을 조성해 나갈 예정이다.
