  올해 가정에서 사용하는 주택용 목재펠릿 보일러(난로포함) 114대와 지역주민이 공동으로 이용하는 편의시설 및 사회복지용 목재펠릿 보일러 14대를 지원 할 계획이다.

  목재펠릿은 숲을 가꾸거나 입목을 수확하며 발생하는 부수적인 산림자원을 분쇄, 건조, 압축, 성형하는 과정을 거치면서 만들어진다. 화석연료와 비교해 난방비 절감 및 미세먼지 발생량이 적어 친환경 연료로 주목받고 있다.

  목재펠릿보일러·난로 설치를 희망하는 도민은 설치장소 시‧군청 산림부서로 신청하면 된다. 

  지원 대상자는 신청자 중 시군별 심의위원회를 통해 통해 최종 선정되며, 지원액은 보일러는 대당 520만원, 난로는 대당 150만원이다. 사회복지용을 제외한 주택용은 비용의 30%를 본인이 부담해야 한다.

충북도는 2009년부터 지난해까지 주택용 5,696대, 2011년부터 사회복지용 231대 등 총 5,927대의 목재펠릿 보일러를 보급했다.
