【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군(군수 송기섭)이 전국에서 가장 안전한 지방정부 중 하나로 선정되면서 살기 좋은 생거진천을 다시 한번 증명했다.

  9일 군에 따르면 행정안전부 주관 ‘2024년 전국 지자체 지역안전지수 평가’에서 교통사고, 생활안전, 자살, 감염병 등 4개 분야 1등급을 달성했다.

  이는 전국 82개 군 단위 지자체 중 가장 많은 기록으로, 전국 226개 기초 지방정부 중에서는 부산 기장군, 충남 계룡시, 광주 남구와 함께 단 4곳에 불과하다.

  여기에 화재 분야에서도 2등급을 기록해 총 5개 분야에서 1~2등급을 달성하며 전국에서 가장 안전한 지역으로 인정받았다.

  특히, 자살 분야는 자살률이 27% 감소를 나타내며 전년도 대비 2등급이나 상승했다. 

  군은 △고독사 위험자 상시 모니터링 △청장년 은둔형외톨이 사회적 관계망 형성 지원 △고독사 예방 조례 제정 △3대 종교단체 연계 자살 예방 상담 △생명존중 문화예술공연 △번개탄 안전사용 캠페인 △생명사랑 표지판 설치 등 다양한 정책을 추진한 것이 자살률 감소로 이어졌다고 분석했다.

  송기섭 진천군수는 “경찰, 소방 등 관계기관 간의 긴밀한 협력을 바탕으로 취약 분야 개선 사업을 지속적으로 추진해, 어느 한 지표도 부진하지 않은 전국 최상의 안전 도시를 구축하겠다”며 “앞으로도 군민들이 안심하고 살 수 있는 안전한 환경 조성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
