【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군이 지역농산물 유통 혁신을 위한 농산물 종합유통타운 조성을 본격화하며 먹거리 미래 100년을 준비하고 있다.

군은 지난 7일 농산물 종합유통타운 착공을 앞두고 실무진들과 간담회를 열어 생산·소비·유통의 일원화를 주제로 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.

이번 간담회에서는 먹거리통합지원센터의 운영방안과 농산물 종합가공센터 건립에 따른 가공품 생산계획 등이 집중적으로 논의됐다.

군은 민선 6기 공약인 ‘생산은 농업인이, 유통은 군이’를 실현하기 위해 54억 원의 예산을 투입해 증평읍 사곡리 일원에 먹거리통합지원센터와 농산물 종합가공센터 건립을 본격 추진 중이다.

2023년 7월 농특산물 유통종합계획 수립을 시작으로 설계단계부터 지역 농가 및 먹거리 전문가들과 함께 다양한 활용방안을 모색해왔다. 

지난해에는 군청을 비롯해 34플러스센터, 도안창고플러스 등 다양한 농업관련 시설에서 전국의 먹거리 전문가 및 농협, 농업인단체들의 의견을 경청하며 현장 중심의 접근을 이어갔다.

현재 먹거리통합지원센터와 농산물 종합가공센터는 건축 실시설계용역을 마무리 중이며, 올해 상반기 공사를 착공해 연내 준공을 목표로 추진되고 있다.

이재영 군수는 “지난 2년 6개월간 직접 영농현장을 방문해 농민들의 이야기를 듣고 그들의 마음과 증평군 농업 현실을 누구보다 깊이 이해해왔다”며, “스마트팜 조성을 통해 기존 농업생산의 틀을 바꾸고 있으며 농산물 종합유통타운 조성으로 새로운 농산물 유통시스템을 구축해 농업의 새로운 패러다임을 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.
