이날 김현기 의장을 비롯한 이영신 부의장과 상임위원회 위원장들은 삼일공원 항일독립운동 기념탑을 시작으로 상당공원 한봉수 의병장 동상, 예술의전당 신채호 선생 동상 등을 차례로 참배했다. 

참석자들은 헌화와 묵념을 통해 나라를 위해 헌신한 선열들의 희생과 공헌을 되돌아보며 감사의 뜻을 표했다.

이어 예술의전당에서 열린 제107주년 3·1절 기념식에 참석해 시민들과 함께 3·1운동의 역사적 의미를 공유하고, 자주독립 정신의 가치를 다시 한 번 마음에 새겼다.

김현기 의장은 “3·1운동은 우리 민족이 하나로 뜻을 모아 독립 의지를 드러낸 역사적 사건”이라며 “선열들의 희생이 헛되지 않도록 시민의 삶을 살피는 책임 있는 의정활동으로 그 정신을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
