【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=윤건영 충청북도교육감과 정영철 영동군수는 27일 오전 10시 30분 영동산업과학고(교장 박한수)와 이수초등학교(교장 김재현)를 차례로 방문해 영동교육발전특구 핵심 사업 추진 현황을 점검했다.

두 기관장은 먼저 영동산업과학고 스마트팜 조성 현장을 찾았다. 특구 사업의 일환으로 조성 중인 스마트팜(가로 15m‧세로 20m‧높이 6m)은 현재 기본 골조 공사가 완료된 상태다.

스마트팜에서는 학생들이 센서를 활용해 작물 생육 상태를 확인하고, 스마트폰이나 컴퓨터로 물을 주며, 관찰 데이터를 분석해 식물이 가장 잘 자라는 환경을 찾아내는 미래형 농업 실습을 진행할 예정이다.

이 시설은 고등학생 실습에 그치지 않고 유‧초‧중학생 대상 스마트팜 진로체험 프로그램부터 고교 심화 실습, RISE 사업*과 연계한 전문교육까지 연계되는 <정주형 인재순환 체계>의 핵심 인프라로 활용된다.

이어 방문한 이수초등학교에서는 돌봄교실 운영 현황을 점검하고, 두 기관장이 배식 봉사에 참여한 뒤 학생들과 함께 식사하며 현장의 운영 상황을 살폈다.

방학 중 도시락 지참 방식으로 운영되던 돌봄교실을 전면 급식 지원 체계로 전환했으며, 이를 통해 학부모의 부담을 완화하는 효과를 거두고 있다.

한편 영동교육발전특구는 ▲돌봄 걱정 zero 영동 ▲공교육 강화(자기주도학습센터 조성, 통학택시 확대 등) ▲스마트팜‧와인산업 연계 미래인재 양성 ▲장학사업 등을 중심으로 추진된다. 

2029년까지 총 224억 원 규모의 중장기 사업을 추진해 교육‧산업‧주거를 연계한 <정주형 인재순환 생태계> 구축을 추진할 예정이다.

정영철 영동군수는 “교육은 지역의 지속 가능성을 높이는 핵심 요소”라며 “스마트농업과 와인산업 등 지역 특화 산업과 교육을 연계해 청년이 정착할 수 있는 영동을 만들어 가겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
