【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북 보은군은 충청북도가 주관한 ‘2026년 우수 시·군 체육행사 지원사업’ 공모에서 ‘제81회 전국 대학야구 선수권대회’가 최고 등급인 S등급에 선정돼 도 체육진흥기금 2500만 원을 확보했다고 25일 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 도내 11개 시·군을 대상으로 전국·도 단위 체육행사를 평가해 S·A·B등급으로 차등 지원하는 사업으로 시·군당 최대 2500만 원까지 지원된다. 

군은 S등급을 받아 지원 한도 전액을 확보했으며, 특히 군 단위 지자체 가운데 가장 큰 규모의 기금을 확보했다는 점에서 의미를 더한다.

평가는 대회 규모와 기간, 예산 타당성, 충북 체육 활성화 기여도, 안전관리계획 수립 여부 등 정량·정성 지표를 종합적으로 반영해 이뤄졌다. 

군은 전국 규모 대회에 걸맞은 운영계획의 완성도와 지역 파급효과, 체류형 방문객 유치 전략, 안전·의료 대응체계 구축 계획 등에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

군은 이번 기금 확보를 계기로 대회 운영의 전문성과 안전관리 수준을 한층 강화하고, 선수단과 관람객 방문에 따른 숙박·외식·관광 연계 효과를 극대화할 계획이다. 

아울러 경기장 안전 점검과 의료·응급 대응체계, 교통·주차 및 질서유지 대책을 선제적으로 마련해 대회의 완성도를 높일 방침이다.

이병길 스포츠산업과장은 “S등급 선정과 함께 최대 지원 한도인 2,500만 원을 확보한 것은 보은군의 체육행사 운영 역량을 대외적으로 인정받은 결과”라며 “앞으로도 전국 단위 체육대회를 성공적으로 개최해 ‘스포츠메카 보은’의 위상을 더욱 공고히 하고, 지역경제에 실질적인 활력을 더할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 지난해 제80회 전국대학야구 선수권대회를 비롯해 총 37개 전국 단위 체육대회를 개최해 연인원 9만 2573명이 지역에 체류하며 숙박·외식 등 소비가 이어지면서 지역 상권에 활력을 더했다.
