군에 따르면, △OECD 기준 15~64세 고용률 78.8%(지난해 하반기 比 0.9↑) △15세 이상 전체 고용률 73.5%(지난해 하반기 比 1.1↑) △청년고용률 55.2%(지난해 하반기 比 3.5↑) △경제활동참가율 74.5%(지난해 하반기 比 0.9↑)로 각 분야에서 도내 1위를 기록했다.

또한 지역활동인구 분야에서도 12만 명으로 다시 한번 군 단위 전국 1위를 차지해 풍부한 일자리를 찾아 유동 인구 유입이 매우 역동적인 경제도시임을 입증했다.

‘지역활동인구’란 해당 지역에서 상품이나 서비스 생산을 위해 실제로 수입이 있는 일을 한 15세 이상 취업자(유입취업자 3만2000명, 거주지취업자 6만1500명)와  거주민 중 실업자(1000명) 및 비경제활동인구(2만5100명)를 더한 수를 가리킨다.

특히 지난해 고용노동부-충청북도와 함께 추진한 반도체·식품제조분야 일자리창출 지원사업을 통해 총 37개사에 207명의 취업을 이끌었다. 또 직장적응지원사업에서도 신규·재직자 126명을 대상으로 교육프로그램을 운영하는 등 고용 안정을 위해 힘쓴 점이 이번 지표 상승에 긍정적인 영향을 준 것으로 풀이된다.

군 관계자는 “지난해 하반기에 이어 연속으로 고용분야 성과를 이뤄낸 것은 지속 가능한 양질의 일자리 창출에 총력을 기울인 노력의 결실”이라며 “앞으로도 투자유치와 지역 특성에 맞는 일자리 발굴로 군민의 삶의 질을 높이는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 군은 지난해 9월 고용노동부가 주관한 ‘전국 지방자치단체 일자리 대상’에서 최우수기관으로 선정돼 5년 연속 수상의 영예를 안았다. 이를 통해 일자리 중심 도시로서의 위상을 한층 공고히 했다.
