【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=제천시립도서관은 지난 6월부터 추진해 온 ‘작은도서관 육성 시범지구 조성(공모사업)’을 성공적으로 마무리했다고 14일 밝혔다. 이번 사업에는 공공도서관 7개관과 작은도서관 2개관(신백한울타리도서관, 하소내보물1호도서관)이 참여했다.

이번 사업은 공공도서관과 작은도서관 간 정보 연계 부족으로 인한 이용자 편의성 제약을 개선하고, 통합 회원 서비스 기반을 강화하기 위해 추진됐다. 주요 과제로는 도서자료관리시스템 고도화, 통합 홈페이지 개편, 통합 회원관리 체계 구축, 신규 개관하는 남부도서관 장비 도입 등이 포함됐다.

먼저, 도서자료관리시스템의 고도화를 통해 최신 소프트웨어(K-LAS 3.0) 도입과 서버 업그레이드가 완료되면서 증가하는 이용자 트래픽에 안정적으로 대응할 수 있는 환경이 마련됐다. 통합 홈페이지 역시 PC와 모바일 모두에서 사용자 친화적으로 개편돼 자료 검색과 대출·반납, 상호대차 등 주요 서비스 접근성이 크게 향상됐다.

제천시는 이번 사업 완료로 도서관리시스템의 안정적인 운영 기반을 확보하고, 이용자 중심의 서비스 품질을 전반적으로 향상시킬 수 있게 됐다. 공공도서관과 작은도서관 간 통합 서비스 제공 기반이 마련됨에 따라 장서 부족 문제도 일정 부분 해소될 전망이다.
