【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시가 10일 오후 5시 서울콘래드 호텔에서 국토교통부가 주최한 ‘2025년 도시재생 종합성과평가 경진대회’의 운영관리 분야 ‘우수상’을 수상했다고 밝혔다. 

올해 도시재생 종합성과평가는 2024년에 사업을 완료한 전국 64개 지역을 대상으로 진행됐다.

평가 항목은 △사업 목표 달성도 △지역 활성화 및 파급효과 △준공 이후 관리 노력 등 총 9개 분야로 구성된 가운데, 충주시는 지역 특성에 맞는 시설 활용 및 운영 성과 우수시설 부분에서 탁월한 성과를 인정받아 우수기관으로 선정됐다.

시는 교현안림동에서 지난 2019년부터 2024년까지 6년간 ‘고즈넉한 향교 발자취를 따라 걷는 언덕마을 교동’을 주제로 우리동네살리기 사업을 추진해 왔다.

해당 사업을 통해 도심 노후화로 인한 주거 기능의 약화, 지역 활력의 저하 등 문제점이 발생한 지역에 향교 동산과 주차장 등 기반 시설을 확충하고 거점시설을 조성하는 등 지역 특성을 살린 도시재생 모델을 구축했다.

특히, 노후 주거지 정비를 통해 인근 지역에 신규 창업이 발생하는 등 긍정적인 파급효과가 이어짐에 따라 주민들의 생활환경 개선과 지역경제 활성화에 높은 성과를 보이며 도시재생 정책 모범사례로 주목받았다.

또한, 지역 주민들로 구성된 마을관리 사회적협동조합에 거점시설을 위탁 운영하면서 일자리 및 수익 창출 등 지역 선순환 효과도 톡톡히 거둔 점이 좋은 평가를 받았다.

Notably, the positive spillover effects of renovating aging residential areas, including the creation of new businesses in nearby areas, resulted in significant improvements in the living environment for residents and the revitalization of the local economy, earning recognition as a model urban regeneration policy.

Furthermore, the project was praised for entrusting the operation of key facilities to a community management social cooperative comprised of local residents, which significantly contributed to job creation and revenue generation, creating a positive local economic cycle.

Mayor Cho Gil-hyung stated, "This award reflects the efforts of local residents and the many people who worked on-site."
