【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군이 주민들의 도서관 이용 편의를 높이기 위해 다음 달 4일부터 매주 월요일 도서관 일부 공간을 시범 개방한다.

그동안 월요일은 도서관 정기 휴관일로 운영돼왔으나, 이재영 군수 취임 이후 추진되고 있는 ‘군민 중심 열린 행정’의 방향에 따라 제한된 여건 속에서도 군민들이 언제든 책과 문화를 가까이 할 수 있도록 이용 문턱을 낮추기로 했다.

이번 시범운영은 1층 북카페 공간을 중심으로 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 개방되며, 무인 대출반납기를 통해 도서 대출 및 반납이 가능하도록 했다.

다만 매월 마지막 주 월요일은 정기 점검일로, 쾌적하고 안전한 도서관 환경 유지를 위해 기존처럼 휴관할 예정이다.

이번 조치는 도서관 직원의 근무 피로도와 시설 운영 효율성을 고려하면서도, 무인기기를 활용해 인력 부담은 줄이고 주민 서비스 공백은 최소화한 점에서 의미가 크다.

도서관 관계자는 “월요일에 책을 대출하고 싶다면 이틀 전까지 사전 신청하면 도서관 1층 출입문 옆 무인기기에서 간편하게 수령할 수 있다”며 “보다 유연하고 편리한 도서 이용을 기대해도 좋다”고 말했다.

군립도서관은 시범운영 기간 주민 의견과 운영 현황을 면밀히 살펴, 더 나은 도서관 서비스를 만들기 위한 운영 개선에 집중할 방침이다

이재영 군수는 “도서관은 책을 빌리는 공간을 넘어, 일상 속에서 군민 누구나 쉬고 머물며 문화를 즐길 수 있는 생활 속 쉼터가 돼야 한다”며 “이번 시범운영은 제한된 인력과 예산 속에서도 군민의 삶의 질을 높이는 정책을 고민한 결과”라고 강조했다.

한편, 군은 민선 6기 출범 이후 △청소년문화의집 주말 운영 △창의파크 운영시간 연장 △국민체육센터 등 공공시설의 개방성과 접근성을 지속 확대해 왔다.
