【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=보은군은 지난 5일부터 9일까지 6일간의 일정으로 보은국민센터에서 열린‘2025 민속씨름 보은장사씨름대회’가 성황리에 막을 내렸다고 밝혔다.

대한씨름협회(회장 이준희)가 주최하고 보은군씨름협회(회장 이성원)가 주관한 이번 대회는 전국 15개 팀 200여 명의 선수들이 출전해 기량을 겨뤘다.

체급별 장사 타이틀은 △소백장사 정선근(영월군청) △태백장사 허선행(수원특례시청) △금강장사 김기수(수원특례시청) △한라장사 오창록(MG새마을금고씨름단) △백두장사 김동현(용인특례시청) △단체전 우승은 울주군청 해뜨미씨름단이 우승의 영예를 안았다.

소백급에서 정선근은 MG새마을금고씨름단 임주성을 3-1로 꺾고 소백장사에 오르며 지난해 10월 안산대회 이후 개인 통산 두 번째 장사 꽃가마를 탔다. 

태백급 허선행은 태백장사 결정전에서 팀 동료 김윤수를 상대로 3-1로 제압하고 2023년 10월 안산대회 이후 1년 9개월 만에 황소트로피를 들어 올리며 개인통산 6번째 태백장사 타이틀을 가져갔다. 

금강급에는 김기수가 증평군청 소속 홍준호를 3-0으로 완승을 거두며 단오대회에 이어 2관왕을 달성했으며 보은대회에서 2022년, 2023년에 이어 세 번째 정상에 오르며 보은에서 강한 면모를 보였다.

한라급 오창록은 울주군청의 이효진을 3-1로 제압하며 2023년 10월 안산대회 이후 1년 9개월 만에 통산 15번째 한라장사에 올랐으며 백두급에서는 김동현이 구미시청의 김보현을 3:0으로 꺾으며 통산 네 번째 백두장사에 등극하며 황소 트로피를 들어올렸다.

단체전은 울주군청 해뜨미씨름단이 용인특례시청을 8-5으로 꺾고 우승을 차지했다.

주최 측에 따르면 대회 기간 하루 평균 1,000명 이상, 총 5,000여 명이 넘는 관람객이 경기장을 찾아 민속씨름의 뜨거운 인기를 실감케 했으며 평일 낮에도 주차 공간이 부족할 정도로 관람객이 몰렸다.

군은 이번 대회를 통해 민속씨름의 중심지로서 위상을 다시 한번 확인하는 계기가 됐으며 대회의 흥행과 함께 지역 경제 전반에 활기를 불어넣는 등 지역사회에도 긍정적인 파급효과를 안겼다는 평가다.

이성원 회장은“보은군과 전국 씨름 팬들의 응원과 격려 덕분에 대회를 성공리에 마무리 할 수 있었다”며 “앞으로도 씨름의 발전과 더불어 스포츠메카 보은의 입지를 굳건히 해 지역경제 활성화에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
