보청천 명소화 사업의 일환으로 추진되는 이번 사업은 군민들의 많은 사랑을 받고있는 보청천의 벚꽃길과 산책로에 야간 경관과 체류형 관광 요소를 더해, 주민과 방문객 모두가 즐길 수 있는 친수문화공간을 조성하기 위해 마련됐다. 

이에 군은 성공적인 사업 추진을 위해 지난 3일 괴산군 자연울림 음악분수를 선진지로 견학했다. 이날 견학에는 최재형 보은군수, 보은군의회 윤대성 의장을 비롯해 군의원, 간부 공무원 및 관계부서 담당자 등 30여 명이 함께했다.

군은 괴산군 동진천변에 설치된 자연울림 음악분수를 방문해 사업 추진 사례와 운영 현황을 살펴보고 음악분수 설치·운영의 장단점을 분석하는 한편 보청천 명소화 사업과 연계한 최적의 방안을 모색했다.

보청천 벚꽃가람 분수 설치사업은 보청천 동다리교 일원에 총사업비 35억원을 투입해 길이 60m, 폭 5m 규모의 음악분수를 조성하는 사업으로 고사분수(최대 높이 50m), 워터스크린, 하이젯 등이 설치될 예정이며 보청천을 지역의 새로운 랜드마크로 조성하고 보은대추축제 등 각종 행사와 연계해 주민과 방문객들에게 볼거리를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

군은 기본계획 수립과 타당성 조사, 지방재정투자심사를 완료했으며, 현재 실시설계 용역을 진행 중으로 2026년 상반기 준공을 목표로 사업을 추진하고 있다.
