【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=올해로 23번째를 맞이하는 월악산송계 양파축제가 오는 7월 11일부터 13일까지 3일간 한수면 송계리에 있는 한수체육문화공원 일원에서 열린다.

 한수면 송계리는 월악산의 정기를 이어받아 자타가 공인하는 명품 양파 생산지로, 해마다 2천여 명이 양파축제장을 찾는다.

 송계 양파 수확 시기에 맞춰 개최되는 이 축제는 주민 화합과 농업인 소득증대는 물론 품질 좋은 송계 양파 직거래를 통해 제천 농특산물의 우수성을 널리 알리고 소비자는 고품질의 양파를 살 기회를 제공하는 계기가 될 것으로 보인다. 월악산양파영농조합법인이 주최하는 이번 행사는 7월 11일 오후 직거래 판매장 설치를 시작으로, 본 행사일인 7월 12일 합창단 및 사물놀이 공연 등의 식전행사, 양파요리 시연 및 시식, 개막식, 식후 공연, 노래자랑 등 다양한 행사가 진행된다.  12일에는 초대가수 신인선, 향토가수 미령, 해오름전통예술단등이 출연하여 월악산 송계 양파 축제 기념 축하 공연이 펼쳐진다.

  축제 기간에는 야생화 사진 전시, 돗자리영화제, 제천지역 농특산물 홍보 및 전시 판매 등 이색적인 체험행사와 볼거리가 진행돼 방문객들에게 즐거움을 선사할 예정이다. 

 월악산양파영농조합법인 김명수 대표는 “월악산 송계 양파는 월악산자락 석회암지대의 좋은 토질에서 재배하여, 큰 일교차로 맛도 좋고 저장성이 탁월해 웰빙시대 인기 품목으로 자리 잡고 있다”며 “다양한 볼거리와 즐길 거리가 있는 이번 행사에 많은 시민과 관광객들이 참여해 질 좋고 싱싱한 양파를 산지에서 직접 구매하시길 바란다”고 말했다.
