 30일, 직접 현장 방제작업에 나선 이재영 증평군수는 지난 28일 충북 충주시에서 럼피스킨 확진 이후 방제 소독에 총력을 기울이고 있다.

 군은 보건소, 축협 공동방제단 방역차량 등을 동원해 럼피스킨 매개체로 알려진 흡혈곤충에 대한 집중 방제를 추진하는 등 촘촘한 방역망을 구축했다.

 군은 지난해 10월 럼피스킨 백신을 일제 접종하였고, 올해 9월말에는 162개 농가 4,161두에 대해 럼피스킨 백신 일제 접종을 완료했다. 

 3주간의 항체 형성 기간을 고려하면 안정기에 접어들었지만, 후속 방제 작업을 통해 긴장을 늦추지 않는 모습이다.

 특히 축사 진입로, 주요 도로의 물웅덩이, 풀숲 등 흡혈곤충의 서식지가 될 만한 곳을 찾아 집중적으로 방제작업을 벌이고 있다.

 아울러, 축산농가들에게 살충제, 소독약을 공급해 자체 방역을 강화하도록 했다.

 이재영 증평군수는 “지역 내 확산을 방지하기 위해 군에서 총력을 쏟고 있다”며, “확산 방지를 위해 축산농가에서도 자체 방역에 적극적으로 나서 주시길 당부드린다”고 말했다.
