청소년 의회교실은 학생들이 1일 도의원이 되어 본회의장에서 의장 선거, 안건처리, 2분 자유발언 등 의정활동을 체험하는 프로그램이다.

학생들은 무기명 투표를 통해 청소년 의장을 선출하고 ‘후드티 착용 자유화 조례안’ 등 3건의 안건을 심의‧의결하고 ‘시험이 끝나도 정상 하교, 이대로 괜찮은가?’ 등을 주제로 2분 자유발언을 이어갔다.

‘시험이 끝나도 정상 하교, 이대로 괜찮은가?’ 발언을 한 조성주 학생은 “시험이 완전히 끝나는 날에는 학생들의 피로회복을 위해 일찍 하교토록 하는 것을 정례화해야 한다”고 제안했다.

행사에 참석한 조성태 의원(충주1)은 “미래의 유권자인 청소년들이 사회 문제 토론 과정에 관심을 갖고 나아가 도의회와 도의원의 역할과 기능을 이해하는 계기가 되었길 바란다”고 말했다.
