교육부에서 올해 새롭게 추진하는 <협약형 특성화고>는 지역･국가에 필요한 특수 산업분야와 지역기반 산업인재를 육성하기 위해 지자체-교육청-특성화고-지역 산업체-대학 등이 협약을 통해 지역에 필요한 맞춤 교육을 실현하는 특성화고이다.

교육부는 공모를 통해 2024년에는 전국에서 10교를 선정하고 2027년까지 35개를 선정하여, 교당 3∼5년간 최대 45억 원을 지원할 예정이다.

이에, 도교육청은 협약형 특성화고 공모를 위해 도내 직업계고와의 협의회 등을 통해 추진 학교를 발굴하고, 관련 지자체 및 기업 유관기관과의 협력 네트워크를 구축하는 등 발 빠르게 움직여, 

올해 충북은 청주공고, 청주하이텍고, 충북산업과학고 3교가 공모에 도전하며, 청주공고는 스마트팩토리 분야, 청주하이텍고는 스마트 모빌리티 분야, 충북산업과학고는 지역 농산물 유통․판매․가공 분야의 지역 산업 맞춤형 인력을 양성할 계획이다.

이를 위해, 도교육청은 해당 학교의 소속 기초지자체, 기업 유관기관 및 RISE사업단 등과의 협력체제를 구축하고 각 학교별 주요 기업체 등으로 협약형 특성화고 컨소시엄을 구성한다.

또한, 교육발전특구 및 RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계)사업과 연계 운영하여 시너지 효과를 극대화하고 학생들에게 다양한 진로 경로를 열어줄 계획이다.

장원숙 중등교육과장은 “특성화고 학생들의 지역 정주율이 높은 만큼 지역사회가 힘을 모아 지역 산업에 맞는 맞춤형 인재를 길러 지역 산업과 함께 성장하는 선순환 시스템을 구축해야 하고, 이를 위해 협약형 특성화고는 지역과 함께하는 직업교육의 좋은 모델이다”라며,“지역의 품에서 미래의 꿈을 키우는 협약형 특성화고 선정을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.

추후, 오는 3월 4일 도교육청은 청주시, 옥천군, 산업체 유관기관 관계자 등 50여명이 참석한 가운데 「협약형 특성화고 컨소시엄 협약식」을 개최할 예정이다.
