고유례는 국가나 개인이 중대한 일을 치른 뒤 또는 치르기 전에 그 내용을 사당이나 신명에 고하는 유가(儒家)의 의례로 예로부터 새로 취임한 고을의 각 기관장이 향교에서 경사스러운 일을 선현들에게 알리는 의식으로 전통의 맥을 이어오고 있다.
