【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시는 20일 충주시립노인요양원이 산림청 국립수목원이 주관하는 ‘사회적 약자 가드닝 프로그램’ 대상지로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

프로그램은 정원 전문가와 보건복지 전문가가 한 팀을 이뤄 코로나19로 인한 우울증, 정신질환, 발달장애, 치매환자 등이 심리적으로 건강한 생활을 할 수 있는 환경을 조성하기 위해 마련됐다.

충주시립요양원은 전국 11개 대상지 중 충북에서 유일하게 대상지로 선정됐다.

프로그램은 충주시립노인요양원 입원 환자를 포함해 주야간보호센터 이용 노인 약 40명을 대상으로 총 9천6백만 원(국비 100%)의 지원을 받아 4월부터 11월까지 총 15회에 걸쳐 진행될 예정이다. 

조수정 생태건강도시과장은 “사회적 약자 가드닝 프로그램 대상지 선정으로 충주가 생태 건강 도시에 한 발짝 더 가까이 다가가게 됐다”며 “어르신들이 꽃과 식물을 가꾸며 신체활동은 물론 심리·인지적 치유와 사회적 관계형성에 이르기까지 다양한 효과를 경험하게 될 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
