Cheongju Overseas Trade Office, Export Support to Local Small and Medium Businesses

Promotion of various support measures such as export consultations and securing offline exhibition and sales networks

-im changyong reporter

The Cheongju Overseas Trade Office (hereafter referred to as the office), which opened in Wuhan, China, is attracting attention as it is playing a role as a bridge to help small and medium-sized enterprises in the region advance into the Chinese market.

The office established by Cheongju City in 2015 has accumulated more than $6.5 million in export support through holding promotions for excellent export products and export consultations in China.

Support for participation in China's local export product fair

It collects information on holding local export fairs in China suitable for the main products of small and medium-sized businesses in the region, such as cosmetics and consumer goods, and supports companies' participation. This year, we are planning to participate in various exhibitions, from international scale fairs held in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Qingdao, etc.

In addition, the office plans to focus on increasing exports and enhancing company satisfaction at the same time by providing product exhibitions and export consultations on behalf of corporate officials who are having difficulties participating due to COVID-19 quarantine measures when entering China, as well as supporting participation fees.

Business-Buyer Online Consultation held

As the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to limit companies' offline export activities and market development, an online export consultation will be held. Through collaboration with related organizations such as KOTRA and marketing experts, we prefer products from Cheongju companies, discover local buyers with online and offline distribution networks, and conduct 1:1 online export consultations through a matching process with companies.

In addition, we plan to provide legal and tax consulting until the contract is concluded, and continue to provide services such as sharing China's latest trade information with companies so that they can enter the market stably with increased exports.

Export incubator operation

In addition, it operates an export incubator business as a business to support the development and initial settlement of the Chinese market. Targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are starting to export, the company plans to recruit desired companies at the beginning of the year and select target companies according to technology and product marketability. The company can use the office space and facilities free of charge and receive support through consulting on accounting and management. By selecting three companies and planning to support them by December, companies can reduce the initial cost and get the effect of operating a branch in China.

Securing an offline exhibition space

In particular, this year, in line with the Chinese government's consumption promotion policy and the recent revival of the Korean Wave, it is necessary to raise the awareness of export products. . The plan is to cooperate with KOTRA and the Hubei Provincial Trade Commission to select competitive products through market research and marketability evaluation, and to set up sales outlets as a pilot in mid- to large-sized retailers with large purchasing power and floating population in Wuhan City.

Lee Jong-hyeok, head of the Cheongju Overseas Trade Office, said, "In a situation where companies' offline export activities continue to be difficult due to COVID-19, we will do our best to promote and operate the business so that the Cheongju Overseas Trade Office can help improve export performance and revitalize the economy."
