괴산군 장연면, 장연초등학교 살리기 적극 동참
장연초 분교장 개편 반대 한 목소리

브레이크뉴스 충북임창용 기자=충북 괴산군 장연면(면장 심재화)은 장연면 주민들과 기관·단체들이 장연초등학교 살리기에 발 벗고 나섰다고 6일 밝혔다.

 

앞서 괴산증평교육지원청은 92장연초등학교 분교장 개편 행정예고를 공고하고 202141일까지 학생수가 20명을 초과하지 못할 경우 장연초를 인근 학교의 분교장으로 개편한다고 발표했다.

 

현재 유치원생 4, 초등학생 10명이 재학 중인 장연초는 지금 추세대로라면 2022년 분교장 개편을 피할 수 없을 것으로 예상된다.

 

장연면은 장연초등학교 살리기 비상대책위원회(위원장 최복만, 이하 대책위)’를 중심으로 대책 마련에 나섰다.

 

대책위는 장연면 주민들과 리우회를 포함한 지역의 기관·단체 6곳과 함께 지난달 22일 분교장 개편에 반대하는 1,477명의 서명을 모아 괴산증평교육지원청에 의견제출서를 제출했다.

 

대책위는 의견제출서에서 비대위의 전입학생 100만 원 장학금 지급과 주거지원을 위한 황토방펜션 2동 무상지원, ()괴산군민장학회의 장연초 입학 축하금 30만 원, 전입학장려금 100만 원 지원, 장연초 동문회의 아토피교실 구축 시설비 500만 원 지원, 장연교회장학회에서 초등학생에게 월 3만 원, 유치원생에게 월 1만 원 학습보조지원비 지급, 주민들의 마을회관과 개인소유 빈집 2채 무상지원 동참 등 지역주민들이 한뜻으로 장연초등학교 유지를 위한 노력을 기울이고 있다고 강조했다.

 

또한 장연초등학교 숲속의 교실 운영, 장연지역아동센터 중심의 컴퓨터 코딩 추가 프로그램 시행 등 방과후돌봄지원 사업 확대 시행으로 장연초 만의 독창적인 교육과정도 운영되고 있어 지역사회 공동체의 중심인 장연초등학교를 반드시 살려야 한다는 주민들의 공감대도 형성돼 있다고 밝혔다.

 

이와 함께 장연초 살리기를 위한 관·의회 차원의 노력도 이어져 충북도의회의 친환경 교실 리모델링 사업비 1억 원 지원, 괴산군의 취학생가구 주거지원을 위한 행복나눔둥지 10호 건립과 느티나무공부방 300신축 등이 진행되고 있다.

 

장연면 주민들은 지역 대표 농산물인 대학찰옥수수와 절임배추를 택배로 판매할 때 장연초 홍보를 위한 리플릿을 동봉하는 등 전학생 유치에 사활을 걸고 있다.

 

최복만 위원장은 주민들과 동문들의 노력으로 인천, 평택, 충주, 음성 등 각지에서 전학을 문의하는 사례가 늘고 있어 학생 유치에 희망이 보인다주민들이 뜻을 모아 지역 공동체를 위한 장연초등학교 살리기에 힘을 모으고 있는 만큼 교육 당국에서도 분교화 기준을 일률적으로 적용하지 말고 소외 지역을 배려하는 융통성 있는 모습을 보여주기를 기대한다고 말했다.
