김 지사는 3년간의 주요성과로, K-바이오 토대마련, 의료비 후불제 시행, 합계 출산률 증가, 고용률 증가, 청남대 관람객 휴게실 개장, 맞춤형 일자리 창출 등을 소개했다. 

앞으로 4년차 추진 과제로는 청주공항 민간항공기 전용활주로 건설, K-바이오스퀘어 조기 추진, 중부내륙시대 인프라 구축, 청남대 상수원보호구역 규제개선, 문화 체육시설 복합문화공간 조성, 관광객 5천만시대 달성, 지식서비스산업 육성 강화, 오창 K-싱크로트론 밸리 조성, 5대 혁신정책 전국 모델로 확산 등 10가지를 제시했다.

10대 핵심 성과로는 우선, 오송 제3국가산단 내 농업진흥지역 385만㎡(약 117만평) 해제를 통하여, 국가정책으로 반영된 K-바이오스퀘어의 신속한 추진 기반을 마련하였다. 

 투자, 예산, 고용, 출산 분야에서도 최고 수준의 성과를 달성하였다. 민선 8기 투자유치 목표액 60조 조기 달성, 전국 최초로 시행한 난자 냉동 지원사업 등 충북형 과감한 저출생 대응 정책으로 합계출산율 전국 3위(0.99명), 출생아 수 증가율 전국 4위(9.2%)를 기록하고, 일하는 밥퍼, 도시근로자 등 대상별 맞춤형 일자리 정책 추진으로 고용률 전국 2위(74.1%)라는 역대 최고의 성과를 거두었다. 

 상수원관리규칙 개정으로 청남대 관람객 휴게음식점(카페)이 설치되고 모노레일도 추진 중이며, 옥천‧영동 수변구역 일부 해제를 통해 옥천 장계관광지 호텔 건립이 추진되는 등 환경규제 완화를 통해 지역 맞춤형 정책 추진의 기반을 확보하였다.

 충북에서 선도적으로 추진하는 ‘일하는 밥퍼’, ’도시농부‘, ‘도시근로자’와 같은 맞춤형 일자리 정책을 통해 도민이 체감할 수 있는 유연한 일자리 환경을 조성하며 ‘일하는 복지’라는 새로운 정책 모델을 정립하였다.

 첫째, 청주국제공항은 민․군 복합공항의 한계를 극복하고 중부권 거점공항 및 행정수도 관문공항으로서의 위상 정립을 위해 현재 국회 발의된 청주공항 특별법을 연내 제정하고, 제7차 공항개발 종합계획(’26~’30)에 반영시켜 청주국제공항 민간항공기 전용활주로 건설을 가시화할 계획이다.

 둘째, 국가 AI․바이오 경쟁력 강화를 위해 K-바이오스퀘어 1단계 조성사업인 KAIST 오송 바이오메디컬 캠퍼스타운의 예타면제를 적극 추진하여 글로벌 수준의 K-바이오스퀘어를 조기에 착공할 계획이다.

 셋째, 중부내륙특별법 전면 개정과 함께, 충청내륙고속화도로 전구간(청주~제천) 개통을 통해 도내 반나절 생활권을 구축하고 청주공항~김천 철도사업과 영동~진천(오창) 민자 고속도로 건설사업 추진으로 중부내륙시대를 견인할 제도적 기반과 인프라를 확충할 계획이다. 

 넷째, 청남대를 관광‧교육‧환경‧MICE가 어우러진 대표 관광지로 조성하기 위해, 보행교 설치와 음식점 확대 등이 가능하도록 규제개선 시범지구로 지정할 계획이다.
