【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북 영동군이 계산동 제3공영주차장과 함께 간이시외버스 정류소를 완공했다고 30일 밝혔다.

 영동군은 지방소멸대응기금사업으로 선정돼 기금사업비를 지원받아 2022년부터 총 13억 원의 사업비를 투입, 토지 매입 및 실시설계 등의 절차를 진행하고 올해 3월 본격적인 공사에 착수해 이달 완공을 마쳤다.

 새롭게 조성된 계산동 제3공영주차장은 1435.5㎡ 면적에 32면의 주차 공간과 간이시외버스 정류소로 이뤄졌다. 

 현재 주차장은 이용이 가능하며, 정류소에는 무인발권기와 대합실이 12월 중에 조성될 예정이다. 군은 충청북도와 협의를 거쳐 청주행 첫차(06:50 영동발)와 막차(20:00 청주발)를 증차해 운영할 계획이다.

 이번 사업은 중앙지구대 및 역주변 교통 혼잡 문제를 해결하고, 주민들의 시외버스 이용 편의성을 높이기 위해 추진됐다. 기존에 계산로 33-1에 위치해 일반 버스 정류장과 함께 사용되던 시외버스 정류소의 혼잡 문제도 해결될 전망이다.

 군 관계자는“중앙지구대 일대는 평소 교통 혼잡이 심각한 지역이었으며, 기차를 이용하는 주민들도 역 주변 주차장 만차로 인하여 불편함을 겪고 있었다”며 “주차장 조성으로 주차난이 해소되고 교통 흐름이 원활해질 것으로 예상되고, 또한 간이시외버스 정류소를 통해 주민들이 기존보다 더욱 편리하게 시외버스를 이용할 수 있을 것으로 보인다”고 말했다.

 한편 영동군은 앞으로도 주차공안 인프라 확충을 통해 군민들의 생활 편의를 높일 방침이다. 지난 2020년부터 △계산동 제1공영주차장 △계산동 제2공영주차장 △계산동 제4공영주차장 △영산동 공용주차타워를 조성했으며, 현재 △부용리 공영주차장을 조성 중이다.
