【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=진천군은 생거진천 미니수박 재배단지가 농촌진흥청 주관 2024년 최고품질 농산물 생산단지 선정 심사에서 ‘대상(국무총리상)’을 수상했다고 30일 밝혔다.

  이번 최고품질 농산물 생산단지는 국내 육성 품종의 보급과 확산에 이바지한 우수단지를 발굴하고 재배 농가의 자긍심 고취를 위해 1차 서면 심사, 2차 발표 심사를 통해 선정됐다.

  진천군은 1인 가구 증대에 따른 소비변화에 대응하고자 충북 최초로 중소형 수박단지를 조성했으며, △초평면(애플수박) △덕산읍(세자 수박) △진천읍(블랙보스 수박)에서 28명의 회원이 읍면별 특색있는 미니수박 단지 24ha를 조성했다.

  생거진천 미니수박단지는 일반 소비자 대상 식미 평가회, 컨설팅, 교육, 판촉 행사 등을 통해 진천의 미니수박의 우수성을 알리고 있다.

  또한, 비파괴 당도 선별, 중소형 수박 생력화 수직재배, 4순 재배기술 도입 등으로 소비자의 신뢰 확보와 노동력 절감, 단위 면적당 생산량과 소득 증대를 위해 노력하고 있다.
