협약은 상생과 협력의 패러다임인 공유도시 개념을 전략적으로 반영하여 중부 4군의 지속적인 성장동력을 창출하고 지역의 교육 경쟁력 강화를 위해 마련됐다.

이번 협약의 사전 행사로 중부 4군 공동유치 SNS 챌린지 릴레이를 전개하였고, 본행사에서는 협약식 및 기념촬영, 유치 퍼레이드 세레머니 등이 진행됐다.

AI바이오 영재고는 KAIST 부설 고등학교로 2026년까지 5개년 계획으로 추진한다. 대지 3만㎡, 연면적 2만㎡ 규모로 전체 학생 수는 270명(학급당 10명, 학년별 9학급)이다. 총사업비는 780억 원으로 건축비 580억 원, 부지비 200억 원 규모이다. 교육과정은 자연과학, 디지털정보, 차세대 AI융합연구 등 AI영재교육을 중점 운영한다.

이재영 증평군수는 “중부4군이 힘을 합쳐 AI바이오 영재고 유치에 성공한다면 같은 생활권인 중부권의 교육환경 개선에 시너지 효과를 창출할 것으로 기대한다”며“증평도 충북혁신도시에 학교가 설립될 수 있도록 적극 응원하겠다”고 말했다.
