류 군수는 지난 12일 내년도 예산 심사에 본격 돌입한 국회를 방문해 엄태영 의원(국민의힘, 예결특위)과 박대수 의원(국민의힘, 환노위), 최춘식 의원(국민의힘, 행안위)을 차례로 만나 정부 예산이 필요한 6개 사업 268억 원의 국비 반영을 위해 적극적인 지원을 요청했다.

이날 류 군수는 제천·단양 지역구 국회의원인 엄태영 의원과는 당면한 지역현안사업을 집중 논의하는 등 심도 있는 대화를 나눴다.

의원들과의 만남에서 류 군수는 포스트 코로나 시대 단양군의 체류형 관광을 지속적으로 견인할, 단양호 호수관광 명소화 사업, 단양에코순환루트 인프라 구축 사업, 남한강 생태탐방로 조성사업의 원활한 추진을 위해 28억 원의 국비가 추가로 필요한 상황임을 피력했다.

이어 장기화 되는 코로나19 상황 속에서도 중부내륙 최고의 관광도시이자 천만관광도시 단양의 명성을 이어갈 수 있도록 아낌없는 지원과 배려를 당부했다.

이와 함께 지난 8월 극적으로 예비타당성 조사를 통과한 제천∼영월 동서고속도로 건설 사업의 2021년 타당성 평가용역비 국비 10억 원 증액과 단양읍 원도심 기능 회복을 위해 추진하는 단양군 도시재생 뉴딜사업이 성공적으로 첫발을 내딛을 수 있도록 힘을 실어 줄 것을 건의했다.

지방소멸 위기에 내몰려 고군분투 중인 전국 24개 군(郡)이 창립한 특례군법제화추진협의회(회장 류한우 단양군수)를 대표해서는 현재 국회에 제출된 『지방자치법 일부개정안』과 『지방소멸위기 지역 지원에 관한 특별법안』이 조속히 통과돼 실효성 있는 지원이 신속히 이루어 져야 함을 강조했다.

류한우 군수는 “전국 모든 지자체가 보다 많은 정부예산 확보를 위해 전 방위적인 국비 확보 전에 돌입했다”면서 “포스트 코로나 시대 지역을 살릴 각종 사업들이 원활히 진행될 수 있도록 600여 공직자와 함께 정부예산 확보를 위한 움직임을 계속해서 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
