【브레이크뉴스 충북】김병주 기자=충주시 연수동이 주민들의 정성이 한껏 담긴 꽃향기로 물들고 있다.

연수동행정복지센터(동장 노희경)은 연수동민들과 함께 아름다운 도시경관 조성을 위한 꽃길 가꾸기 사업을 지속 추진 중이라고 밝혔다.

꽃길 가꾸기 사업에는 지역 내 직능단체, 동네 주민, 공무원, 학생 등이 각계각층의 인원이 참여했으며, 지난 8일부터 20일까지 연수동 주공6단지 아파트, 연수초등학교, 주공 1~3단지 금곡로 일원, 공설운동장 사거리 일원 등 연수동 거리 전반을 대상으로 진행됐다.

지난 15일에는 연수초등학교 학생들과 교직원, 금곡마을 생태학교, 종합사회복지관 등 40여 명이 연수초등학교 주변 꽃길 가꾸기 작업에 참여하며 아름다운 경관 조성은 물론, 마을공동체 및 생태 교육의 장으로 활용되기도 했다.

연수동행정복지센터는 주민들과의 협력을 통해 향후 조성된 꽃길의 꾸준한 관리에도 지속적인 관심을 기울인다는 방침이다.

꽃길에 식재한 품종은 꽃잔디, 맥문동 등 다년생식물로 장기적으로 연수동의 경관을 아름답게 가꿔줄 것으로 기대된다.

노희경 연수동장은 “꽃잔디 등 다년생식물을 활용하여 도로변 잡초가 자라는 것도 방지하고 아름다운 도시경관 조성에도 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다”며 “주민들이 직접 마을을 푸르고 아름답게 가꿔가는 만큼 앞으로의 관리에도 최선을 다할 것”이라고 말했다.

한편, 연수동은 앞으로도 주요도로변 화단과 쌈지공원 등 지역 곳곳에서 주민주도형 꽃길 가꾸기 사업을 확대 및 관리해 나갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.
