도서 교환시장 운영은 2011년 이후 출판된 양호한 도서를 갖고 오면 군민이 원하는 도서를 비치된 도서 중 신간도서는 가져온 책 2권과 신간도서 1권을 무료로 교환 할 수 있으며, 구간도서는 1:1로 교환하는 형식으로 1인 3권 이내에서 교환 할 수 있다.

이번 행사는 신간 위주의 도서 500여권과 기존도서 1,500여권을 비치하고, 주민이 소지한 책과 무료로 교환해주는 것으로 운영된다. 책의 특성상 한번 읽으면 가정에서 보관만 하는 경우가 많은데, 다른 도서와 교환함으로써 나눔문화를 공유하고 자원절약을 생각하는 뜻 깊은 행사이다. 교환하고 남은 도서는 각 지역에서 운영하는 새마을문고에 배부해 지역 주민들이 활용할 수 있도록 할 계획이다.

코로나 19로 집에서 생활하는 일상의 지친 마음을 독서로 힐링 할 수 있는 여유 있는 시간을 가져 코로나 블루를 예방하는 알뜰 도서교환 시장을 기존 2일 운영에서 1주일 운영으로 확대 실시하기로 했다.
